Hi
I've never collimated my LX200R and after i checked it wasnt the best. I followed the Meade instructions and noticed that even after I got it 'right' (relatively), If i moved the defocused star image towards the edge of field it deformed ie: centred rings if in centre of the field and not if moved to the edge.

My question is - is this what it should look like after collimation? :confused2: Two ccd images here to help explain my query.

Logic tells me I should see centred rings right across the field of view?

Thanks
Dan

Are you sure you have the R, that's what I would expect from a non-R. Did you have a reducer in play?

Damn - you're right. Its the 200R but I had my f6.8 reducer on. Have to try again - thanks.

When you're redoing the collimation checks you can measure the images on the screen to check the centring of the doughnut...your first image is probably too large and shows a little bit of "off centre"
You're certainly on the right track......
