Hi Al,

Shot of Crater Neper, near Mare Marginalis taken near full moon. THe central peak is spectacular as is the rugged walls. It lies at Longitude 84.5 deg East - a real limb dweller! 137 km wide and 2km deep. Named in honour of Scotsman, John Napier of logarithm fame (or infamy as many students would attest). Taken with G-Star ex. Stack of 800 frames. 22" Newtonian, 3x Barlow.

Neper looks mysterious with the shadows, thats a big scope your using capable of long focal lengths when seeing is vgood.

John.

Very nice, I really like these shots near the limb of the Moon - it gives the image a 3D effect when you see the landscape from such a low angle.

Thanks, everyone. Yes, John, it's rare to have the seeing good enough to dust off the barlow! The old girl doesn't like high magnification unless the seeing is excellent or better.
