After looking at the masterpiece Mike Sidonio created with his new beast of a scope I decided I would have another go at f5 and see if I could produce some of the colour Mike had managed.

I ended up settling on 3 minute subs using QHY9 with Baader LRGB filters (30 minutes per filter) through Takahashi FSQ 106ED at F5.

Reasonably happy with the result.

Wow a few stars in that image too Dougie :eyepop: nice job

A couple of things to watch though:

1) Careful with the blending of the inner and outer core areas, it can look pretty obvious if you aren't careful

2) Watch the use of shadow highlights as it can flatten the image, Omega is a 3D ball not a flat circle, in fact it is an almost oblate football shape really and the flattening caused by the shadow highlights can mask this. The centre needs to be brighter than the edges to give it some sort of ball like appearence.

Still a cool image

The resolution is great Doug....the rest Mike has already pointed out.

Nice result Doug with plenty of star colour. It's not an easy object to capture well.

First Repro.

Thanks Mike, Your comments are appreciated. Interestingly the core hasn't been masked on this image but it surely looks like it has when I took a second look.

Thanks Ross, Glad to see your working hard at your imaging. It is a steep learning curve and just when you think you are getting somewhere you fall back to earth and start again. It is enjoyable though.
