I have a large transparency (450mm x 450mm) of Comet Halley taken on 9 March 1986. The film was made by the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh from a glass plate taken at the UK Schmidt Telescope at Siding Spring, near Coonabarbran, NSW. The film was saved from the ROE film library when it was being closed down.

The transparency film takes up a field of view 5 degrees x 5 degrees, and Comet Halley takes up most of this field. The detail in the tail is awesome. At no cost, I will also include a small print of Comet Halley taken on 10 March 1986 that shows the dramatic changes in the tail over 24 hours.

The UK Schmidt film shows stars to Mag 23, two million times fainter than the human eye can see. I have other images for sale but few come close to the stunning appearance of this transparency. And this is my last Comet Halley transparency for sale.

The price is $40 plus postage, which is likely to be $5 to Australian destinations. Postage will be combined if other pieces of film are purchased. I am in the process of creating a list and description of all the film that is available. Please email me on naomiian@bigpond.net.au if you are interested.

Regards
Ian :)
