Having read so many bad things about the internals of HEQ mounts I decided to dismantle my near new EQ6 Pro mount.
I found everything perfectly fine inside. All surfaces and bearings were well lubricated and all screws well tensioned.
No problems.

Did you follow a guide Ken, or just shoot from the hip?

A guide for stripping both Dec and RA came with my near new Pro mount.
The guide at located on the web, just type in: EQ6/Atlas stripdown
Good one too.
Ken
Ken, did I get that right, instructions on how to strip the Dec and RA CAME with the mount. Does Skywatcher encourage that... what about warranty issues? Or is it considered minimal & normal user intervention? Thx, Fox

What I said was 'my near new mount'.
In other words, the mount was second hand, only slightly used, and the previous owner included the info with the mount

Why not let Astro Baby take you through the process step by step.
She's awesome.
