ed refractors

Hi all,

Just need some thoughts on a trio of ed refractors.:help:

Skywatcher ED 120 Apo - bout $2000
William Optics 120 Megrez - bout $2250
Explore Scientific ED 127 - bout $2060

Will be mounted on an EQ6, 50/50 between visual and imaging.

I live in a smallish town so getting to a dark spot will be easy.

Finding it hard to choose between them, and I have no-one nearby who has any of them.

I think there is. 120 ED in the classifieds here, would make deciding easier, the 127 can still ve bought direct from china a few 100 less I think. If you buy direct from WO at the moment you can get megrez for 1898 + 98 shipping, with the currency at the moemnt that means we actually pay a little less than us dollar price. I have boug form WO online direct a couple if times & have gotten fast delivery & no hassles.
I like WO scopes, & it comes with a padded case. The 127 with the upgraded focuser has a problem reaching focus with 2" diag, so visual is more difficult.
The good thing about the skywatcher is usually the weight.
Probably look for the best focuser option for you, how heavy is your imaging camera? The WO has the new DDT focuser 3.5", it would probably be my choice

which looks fantastic. I have their ED80 and I have been incredibly impressed with the quality and just how good the views are from this scope.

Hey Daniel, what do you mean about the 127 not reaching focus with the updated focuser?:confused2: ATM I've an EOS 5D but will be upgrading to a CCD in the near future.

Does the focuser on the 127 rotate 360 degrees?

The newer heavy duty focuser on the 127 has some problem with not gh in focus to reach focus with some 2" diagonals. There was a thread on CN about it
