This is the first panel in a 16 panel mosaic. I thought I'd post it and get some feedback before I spend 15 gazzillion hours putting together a mosaic.

I think the data I got is fine. The 16 panels will add up to a total of about 90 hours worth of images (approx 9 billion pixels).

Here is panel 1:

That's going to be one huge chunk of sky. You got in one panel what it took me 9 to do.

Yes it does. I think the mosaic feature of the Sky 6 could be helpful. Keep a record of where each panel goes. Some panes are quite
non distinctive and it can become a jigsaw puzzle. Make sure you overlap enough otherwise you can get nasty gaps. Also to rotate your scope to allow for rotation if done over a period of time.

Thanks Trev.

That's the beauty of the big chip/FSQ and reducer combo.

Going by the standard of the piccie you have there, I would most certainly go ahead with the mosaic. Especially if the rest are upto that standard.

Excellent work:)

Yes I know. I think I'll do the first 4 and post it and then keep adding until its all done.

Yes its almost like cheating its so easy.

Cheers.

That's why I put it off so long. But the recent Orion one wasn't too painful.

That's encouraging. I was tossing up whether to reshoot it. I may take my gear with me anyway to my dark site. I may be able to get some more data down there where the skies are perfect. This image was taken at my home where skies are reasonably dark from just before zenith to the west.

There's nothing like plenty of data and plenty of options.

16 panels! I admire your dedication Greg. It looks like you are off to a good start although I think it's a little too saturated. That's a matter of taste though.

Cheers

Thanks for that.

Yes it is quite saturated. Unfortunately that's how I prefer it and I understand its not everyone's taste. Perhaps the final mosaic will be less saturated.

Cheers Steve,

Greg.

Thanks Louie.

I may reshoot some of it ( the key panels) at my dark site over Easter. The weather forecast there is looking very good. Moon is still up fairly early though.

Thanks Ross. It'll also be a lot of work so I hope its worth it. Still
all those exposures can't got to waste.

Thanks Fabio. Very encouraging.
