The seeing was OK but not the 9/10 that Skippy promised :( Soon after 930pm however it dropped off and stayed ordinary until just before 11.30pm when I decided to pack up. It improved a bit, probably 7/10 but i was too tired to hang around.:sadeyes:
I still haven't processed a whole lot of them but these 2 looked OK during capture :)
I used Registax V5 as for me it is still delivering better results :rolleyes:
Probably just not got the hang of V6 yet
Was pleased to get a tiny glimpse of what i think is the Encke Gap

Hi Rob. Good images. You seem to be catching the better seeing conditions lately. Regards Ray

Very nice Rob. I'm in the same boat as you... fiddling with settings in V5 and V6 and trying to make sense of it all...

Well done.

Hi Rob, nice shots. Probably your best so far? I reckon it's about time you got serious & bought another camera mate ;-)

Are you shooting for the 6 min. max. time? I haven't seen much of an improvement in my processing with version 6 in my experimentation, if any over version 5.1 unfortunately. I think the beauty lies in the fact that it can now MAP align with no seam lines (if you know what your doing) on moon shots.

Rob, sorry to hijack mate...

Asimov, so 6mins ideally on Saturn? Nice to know!!!

And does a better camera really make that much of a difference? i.e. Phillips SPC900NC vs. DMK colour etc?

I thought that optical quailty / size of the primary is where the real benefits can be found... interesting...

Hi Logan. Yes, you can safely image Saturn for 6 mins.

I imaged with all the Toucams for about 2 years I think it was, then upgraded to the DBK. I most definitely am producing better results now compared to the 900nc results I used to get. It's mainly about the frame rates, gain versus sensitivity & codecs. Naturally aperture plays a part, as well as optical quality but by jumping to the DBK was without doubt my biggest gain.

Nice one Rob. I'm still back at square 1 getting nowhere fast.

Nice result there Clayton, looks like quite reasonable data.

Cheers

Thanks Ray. I usually have a look if it's clear, but don't bother with the camera unless it looks promising.

Thanks Logan. I have some more V6 tips to try when I get organised. If they work I will let you know

:rofl:Another camera :rofl:Maybe next year John. I'm still trying to raise a 17yo daughter :help::P I only have this camera due to the generosity of Darryl (KM).
But seriously I have plans for my 10" and when it is sorted I will look at upgrading to a better camera, but due to the lack of finance it is a slow pathway:juggle:
PS I think these two were 300 sec

Thanks Michael. It can be slow when there are other priorities to hamstring the finances. I still would like to catch up again time permitting:)

Thanks Trevor, the seeing was kind (but not too kind) to me for a few short minutes. As usual I was a bit heavy handed with my processing. Perhaps one day I will learn to practise some restraint:rofl:
