LX 75 goto mount.

Hi I have just bought an 8" f5 skywatcher newt with LX 75 goto mount with StarGPS. How good/reliable is this mount? What have others found are its weaknesses/strengths? What issues have to be addressed in maintaining mount? The Meade Autostar hand controller has custom software to run the StarGPS. Being a push and pull dob person going to a rig like this is a quantum technological leap. What advice can you give a noob in getting to grips with successfully running this rig? What about photography? Scope is about 6 years old. I am told it is at present in perfect working condition.
