Hi All,
Imaged Saturn last night in quite reasonable seeing at approx 40 min intervals, got 3 RGB & 807nm IR data sets before I was clouded out, again !!!!!!!
Have attached the 3 RGB & 3 807nm IR data sets as well as animations of both data sets.
Rhea is in all data sets, the storm trail remains bright and is well defined in this data, the cloud arrived before I was able to image the head of the storm.
Ran this data through R6 & R5 but was happier with the result from R5.
Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

I think those data sets are pretty sharp and storm structure quite fine, I can trace Cassini div through front rings, wonder if this storm will last till next year? Both Paul and I agree R5 seems better for detail but R6 gives noticable sharper smoother rings.

Trevor,
You have to be happy with these. Well done.

Thanks John, I think R6 is considerably better than R5 for good Jupiter data. In that case there is so much well resolved detail right across the image that R6 can successfully anchor hundreds of alignment points and thus perform a better aligning job. Good data requires very minimal application of wavelets.
I think the new linked wavelets function with R6 can be very harsh and is better suited to very ordinary data.
The case with Saturn is very different with only the rings, CD & storm structure offering good anchor points , especially so in good seeing. The very subtle banding on Saturn does not offer much for alignment points to anchor to.
Over time I have sorted R5 very nicely and I agree with you that it does a better job with Saturn, especially with the storm structure, which for me is the over riding factor with my Saturn imaging. I would much prefer to resolve fine detail within the storm structure for the researchers that use my data than to go for a smoother view just for esthetic's.
Thanks Peter, Yep pretty happy but in this game its all about the quality of the seeing and we all lust after better seeing.
Nice set of images Trevor. A very good night imaging well done :D

Very nice set of data Trevor. The storm detail in the animations is impressive. Regards Ray
