I was thinking of heading west of the Blue Mountains at Easter to get some dark skies.
Does anyone have any thoughts on accomodation options in the Oberon area? I need power for my set up (never managed to buy the battery adapter for my SBIG).

The skies aren't that dark in town, thanks to the lights from the factories these days.
There are a few different B&B's on properties out of town that might suit (try the yellow pages), or the other option is Melaleuca Chalets on the Sydney Rd. I have no idea if they have vacancies at this late stage or what their prices are, but I get the impression they aren't the cheapest accomodation.

Hi,
This may assist

I notice Sunsets at Oberon gets good reviews, and the map shows it is out by the golf course, with what seems to be dark skies on 3 sides.
I've never been there though.

Try McKeown's Rest B&B: 6335 6252 or 0428 356 252.
Its 5 ks from Jenolan Caves so you're out of town away from the lights.
There's also:
Jenolan Cabins: 6335 6239.
Billabong Cottage: 6336 5144

Thanks guys - I'll make some enquiries
Now all I need to do is convince the family to come up with me - or give me a leave pass
