Very long time between posts. I finally got out imaging again last Saturday from Wiruna. Great night. No wind, cool enough, dry and absolute perfect seeing and transparency. Moon went down around 21:25 so I had all the time to shoot until 4:00 when it clouded over and rain on Sunday midday.

This is 5x10min in the area of the jewelbox. First time I used the triplet in RGB. Minor tracking issues. Been out of the game for too long (6 months) and didn't tighten the DEC clutch enough so I wasted half hour figuring out DEC drifts in PHD. Sounds familiar? :P Very happy with the scope so far. Nice colors and minimal amount of noise. Hardly any reflections.

Did another 2h on Eta and 9 panels mosaic around Antares/Rho that I'm still to process and stitch. Will post later.

There's a bigger version here (http://www.astropic.net/NGC/4755/NGC4755_f.jpg) with more details. [1800px]
Thanks for looking.

Hi Marc

Wow – such a dense gathering of stars; reminds me of Olber’s Paradox, a star everywhere you look!

Not surprising you had to re-climb part of the learning curve after a 6 month lay off – glad you managed to overcome the gremlins though.

I tried the http link to the hi-res version and got an error message.

Cheers

Dennis

Nice Marc, but widish field is a bit of an understatement. Lots and lots of stars. Colour looks very good. Looking forward to seeing the big mosaic.
6 months between images. Thats a long time to try and remember everything. With my old timers problems I can't remember 6 days back so no hope for me.

Get processing, I want to see the big one.

Tell me that's not the Coal Sack on the right :eyepop:

Great field Marc, I love starry fields like this, sooooo much more awe inspiring than almost starless tiny fields  - great stuff

I know, take some of Marcs stars (he wont miss a few) and sprinkle'em around your shots when needed, I'm sure he wont mind ;)

Hi Marc, and great come back after your long hiatus!
This scope does look like it's a keeper. Very promising indeed!
Huge star field and one of my favourite objects nestled in amongst it all.

Great colour on your stars, lovely and golden...

Nice work.

Look forward to the mosaic... that will be something with this fov.

All the best
Rich

Thanks for the comments Dennis. Glad you liked it. Dense field indeed. I fixed the link now. First time I've had problems with tinyurl.com. Usually works fine. Weird.

Thanks Fred. See you next meeting with your new dolly hardware and awesome timelapses.

Thank you Doug. Yes, bit rusted. I just got to get back on top of it. :)

Thanks Carl. Where have you been stranger?

Thanks Mike. I love widefields too. It puts everything in perspective and there's always an impression of vastness and scale. Yes I believe it is part of the coal sack.

 Yeah, nearly missed it! :P Thanks Doug.

Hey Ross, wassup? :) The new scope is very nice yes. I'm very pleased with it and it's light and easy to set-up. Still little tweaking needed with the flattener but nothing dramatic. Thanks for the comments and catch up soon.

Thanks Rich. I started debayering and stacking. I have a new Win7 64bits system now with an I7 and 24GB of RAM. I don't even have time to turn around for a quick cuppa. :P

Thanks Louie. Glad you liked it.

Great to see you back in the game Marc! With many contributors to chose from, you and Fred are my two favorite imagers here on IIS. Totally different styles, but both of you seem to impart 'personality' on your images without fail. I don't know whether it's framing, sheer luck, processing, colors, flirting with starless versions, or if it's just in my head :screwy:, but I like it!
