Hello Is it Possible to buy a 125 or 127mm APO refractor for about $2,000.00 and what optical quality do you get--Tony

You can get a good 127mm triplet APO for well under that.

Ha, bless you Chris, shamelessly plugging for me, LOL. Already PM'd him, but haven't had a reply.

I was going to say but Chris beat me to it :)
That would be a nice scope.

just a question, what's the 6" refractor like for planets?

I am getting a refractor or Mak for that. I think a mak 8" saxon

Hi Chucky,
not really looked at the planets through it, but might tonight if the seeing allows. Saturn is rising. Gotta be honest though, nothing beats aperture, and so an 8" will likely have the edge.

OK, more to answer your question than anything, I finished a couple of shots, and slipped the eyepieces in. Saturn was lovely, but seeing didn't really allow any more than 190x, this being with an LE5mm eyepiece. A couple of doubles, and off to bed. Nice, and with a lower power eyepiece, the wow factor is there.
