Hi Guys

Nothing new shot from me but I have been working with some data shot through a 32"RC which I've much enjoyed.

A big thanks to Jim Misti for making this data available !

Hey Louie, good to see what you've been up to!

Lucky guy, get to use someones data that's been taken with a huge apertured RC such as Jims.. must be nice!

I actually like the M22 image the best. The reason is that the stars shine with a good intensity, they aren't over sharpened and colour is outstanding. Nice resolution into the cores depth.

M100 while it is well processed, it lacks punch and intensity. The galaxy looks flat. I often think if we were out there, the light that we would see would be shining back at us with all the intensity of little suns. Especially toward the core of a galaxy (although we don't want to blow out the core natch!) Crank this up and it will be perfect.

M64 came out quite nice Louie, perhaps a wee bit over smoothed to the background for my taste but there is some nice detail being shown to the galaxy. Maybe selectively crank up the intensity a wee bit on this one as well.

All in all, good to have a look at what a large aperture can do with good processing.

Thanks for sharing:thumbsup:

All the best
Rich

Dug,Narayan,Rich...thanks for your time guys!

Rich,I think I agree on all counts mate...this was certainly an interesting experience.

I was getting readings for the FWHM on small stars of 8"+ and even after decon still reading around 6".....I don't know If this is normal for Jim's seeing conditions at that humongous focal length but sure was fun working with his data anyway!

Thanks again guys.

Oh yeah, should add that this data is available to anyone, just download off his site and just make sure you adhere to his conditions of use.
