Hi All,
I really want to get a Macro Lens but until I get one I will continue to try to get good insect photo's with what I have.:D

Hi Warren,
A couple of pretty reasonable shots there with what you have.
What lens etc did you use for those?
I found if you have a short tele lens say around 135-150mm that has a good close focus range is the next best thing to a macro.
One bonus is they give you a bit more DOF without having to close the appature right down.
I have a 135mm f2.8 prime lens that I'd been using for just this purpose and it peformed very well.
I then purchased a 100mm f2.8 macro that was highly recommended and was a little underwhelmed by it.
Mind you it is a very good lens but the 135 is better for grabbing those quick shots while the 100 macro is better if you have time to setup for the shots.

The St Andrews Cross spiders were my first targets in macro too.
I used to call the Jupiter spiders because of the markings on their back.
Lovely shots Warren.
