This is nothing speciall but I've never done the Antennae before so I thought I would post this effort. Conditions were pretty poor with wind and intermittent high cloud and the guiding wasn't working too well for as yet unexplained reasons. In the end I think I managed an acceptable image but I wouldn't call it great.

Anyway, enough excuses.

Quite a good antenna. The framing being a tad off centre is a bit attention grabbing for me.
Not really a 3rd and not at or slightly above centre.

Greg.

Given the conditions, thats an excellent shot. Youd be hard pressed to do better on anything else than an STL6303.

Hi Steve,
I was thinking about having a shot of this but decided my setup is just too wide to do it justice.
Maybe you could stretch it a tad more to bring our the spiral arms or whatever?
Really great image.

Thanks Craig. I don't think stretching it will show much more worthwhile but I'll have another look at it.

Thanks Fred

Thanks Dr Paul

Thanks Doug

Point taken Greg. I couldn't find a suitable guide star with the galaxy right at the centre. I probably should have cropped it a bit more creatively.

Steve,

That is superb. I love it.

What a fabulous object. Wish I had the focal length to have a go at it!

Thanks Humayun. It is rather small isn't it. I don't know why but I was expecting it to be bigger. I must have been looking at the Hubble version too much.

Cheers

Love it! The detail in the centre part of the interacting galaxies looks 3d, almost like it is 'boiling'. Lovely.

This object is one of the toughest I have imaged so far. It just requires some much time on smaller OTA's, just to keep the noise at bay. I like you image, except for the colouring in the galaxy. It looks a little too brown. Individual choice though. Well done.

Thanks Paul. Yes - I don't think the colour balance is quite right. I must work on that.
