Hi

I am beginner in astrophotography and I would like to share my first image of M42 taken last night using GSO 8" f/4 from light polluted area of sydney. This was taken with the normal RA motorised equatorial mount telescope. I modified this scope for astrophotography by pushing primary mirror. I processed the images using deekskystacker which very good software and easy to use. I don't know if I can enhance this image any further, any suggestion will much appreciated.

Details of equipment:
GSO 8" F/4
RA Motor drive
Canon ESO 400D
Exposure:5 sec
No. of frames:39
ISO 1600
No coma corrector

Arif,

Pretty good for a first go at imaging. Now you need to work on longer exposures. Unfortunately this will mean autoguiding and drift alignment.

Welcome to the journey.

Thanks for the appreciation. I am thinking to buy HEQ5 or similar mount in next upgrade. But meanwhile, I can manage with short exposures.

Nice start Arif. Next step is guided and much longer exposures.
Well done.

Good first start. There is plenty of talent here to tap into, just keep posting.

well done on giving it a go - its a fantastic pass time, though can be a tad frustraiting at times
