Why am I posting in the Beginners section? Because after 2+ years without using my scopes due to moving multiple times etc.... I got out the Dob last night to show my wife Saturn, and took 30 minutes to find it!!!!!!!! :eyepop: I don't know where anything is anymore!!!

And why do my arms shake just holding binoculars up?? Anyone got a pill for steady hands? :)

I've forgotten everything! I don't even know where my finderscope for the dob is!! Try finding stuff without a finderscope in a dob! n00b alert! :screwy:

Anyyyywwwaaaayyy...re-ignited the fire for astronomy (especially for my wife!), and I'm not trying to see what I can do to setup a permanent spot for the scopes. Just don't know where yet.

So...how're things? What's happenin? How's everyone doing?

I'm off to read the forums (and learn for the 2nd time all the basics on collimation, drift & polar alignment...)

Found my finderscope AND my 10" only needs the primary slightly adjusted! How sweet is that? :-) I would have expected a lot of movement over 2+ years and multiple house moves!!

Hi DJ and welcome back.

Don't worry, it's just like riding a bike you'll back into the swing of things in no time at all.

Just to confirm, on my Dob, the collimation screws are the ones with springs, yeah? The lock screws got no springs..??

Yes, welcome back DJ!! I saw when you posted re the 2012 solar eclipse, and thought that we hadnt heard from you for awhile. ;)

Had a chuckle re lost finderscope, but glad you found it. :D

Good ya getting some clear skies down there, remains cloudy up here, but hopefully for not much longer. :help:

Thanks Liz. Good luck on clear skies. We've had a few good nights, though many cloudy ones. I find if it's cloudy and a bit rainy during the day, if we have clear skies at night, seems to be good seeing!
