Looks like a real beat-up again. I've just seen an ad for an expose on the "stupidity and criminality" of possessing and using hand-held lasers. It was announced in that idiotic slow-speaking, faux-sultry television show announcement voice to make it more dramatic. Unbelievable.
I don't really care because I rarely, if ever, have need to use one. That doesn't mean that a lot of you don't.

Oh great. More sensationalism over a few idiots doing the wrong thing spoiling it for the great majority who don't....

'7' and 'News' are mutually exclusive terms, and I should know, I'm paid to sit here and make sure it goes to air every day! Total rubbish! And don't get me started on the half hour tepid dogs droppings that follows it.
Cheers,
Jason.

Was the segment on? I watched 7 News and Today Tonight but no show.

Of course the producers of a certain show on Channel Nine (ACA) would think of being described as "tepid dog droppings" as a compliment!
Speaking of lasers, the law only covers pointers. Labbies, modules and diodes are exempt.
Just took delivery yesterday of all the bits needed to make a nice blue laser.
The diode is rated at 1.5W(yes... 1500mW!!).. thats only 1500 times the power of the limit put on green pointers ;)

Same down here.
Must have only been a 'Sydney only' news story.

Well, it was actually about the completely illegal 200mw versions finding their way in via eBay and other similar methods. Still, they effectively tar and feathered the lot in one motion.

You have my sympathy Jason. A recent equipment failure led to us watching commercial TV for the first time in years - what a shock - we'd become completely re-sensitised to advertising - makes you want to vomit when you're not used to it.
It must have been a slow news day.
Actually I've been wondering when laser pointers would pop up in the news again, they can rehash all the old footage and all the polly parrots can emerge and make various unfounded statements. :P
Oops, that was a bit sarcastic of me. ;)
