Here is a series of Saturn taken tonight. Seeing varied from OK to very good. I've tried a little different capturing and processing, resulting in more full on colours. What I found evident is that the rings were far brighter than normal as Saturn approaches opposition - they stood out much more clearly against the planet, actually making focussing alot easier than normal. The "tilt" of the images are a result of the field rotation as the planet was followed through the sky.

Well done, I like this effect. Yes the Seeliger effect is really coming on strong now.

I started noticing the Seeliger effect around the 25th, not usually evident until two to three days prior to opposition but yo got it alright. Well done.

Interesting collection Tom with rings distinctly brighter , noticed seeing looked good but did not materialise for me but noticed how bright the rings were in the blue filter really standing out.

The Picture Style settings I use are suited to day landscape stills, which enhance greens and blues (ie the blue sky), which is why the rings here are even more apparent than in the video (taken at more neutral colour settings). That's also why I seem to get an inordinate amount of blue haloing in my images (well, that's my excuse anyway :)Tom
