Fist night in ages I've had to take my dob out for a session due to weather and work etc. Set it all up and started up the sysnscan, go to the first alignment start and went to slew up and pressed the arrow-nothing! the directional arrows are totally dead, Everything else works fine, all the other buttons, goto etc but no manual slewing. :mad2:

I tried a factory reset, a re-flash of the latest firmware and pulled the handbox apart to check the board for any signs of trouble, nothing. Every still works except the arrows...

Looks like I'm up for another handbox unless some one has any ideas.

Change the cable from the synscan to the mount. You might find that pins that transmit manual slew commands are faulty.

Even in stand alone mode with just power directly to the hand controller the directional slewing arrows are still dead.

I can't even find a replacement AZ Sysnscan controller:(

I'm still stuck with this problem, anyone know where I can get a replacement AZ v3 Synscan Hbx?

Hi,

I think (seems feasible) that powering the handset directly, instead of to the mainboard box, would not tell you anything about slewing problems. I thought that direct power connection was only for flashing the firmware (jeez I love this kind of talk :P).

Is there any chance that the power supply is too weak? I have read that a power supply that has not got the amperage capacity will produce this type of problem.

Cheers hopefully

My Synscan handset occasionally plays the same trick. Pressing the Rate key and resetting it to your prefered speed (instead of zero) usually fixes it.

I'm running a 900amp 12v DC power supply that I've been running on it without issue so far...

Done that a zillion times without any luck...

Give Tasco a direct call - they are the importers/distributors so should be able to get spares replacement

Recently had a SynScan controller board ordered and replaced

Hi,

900 Amp !! Enough current capacity for sure. In fact about 450 times more than the specification.

Cheers

It a Car jump start pack and 900amp is what it kicks out max, not putting that through to the scopes tho of course :) It a great pack as it runs both of my scopes and accessories for many sessions on one charge without a hiccup.

Yea, that is the only avenue I seem to have left.
