EdgeHD 14" on Eta Carina

I have finally managed to find a way to image with my EdgeHD 14" at a ratio between 6 and 7 and without re-introducing coma into the train. The target is an obvious one for this sort of testing - Eta Carina - and here is the result of finally combining this scope with an AstroPhysics reducer (the CCDT67). I present it in 2 different processing forms. Both are full-frame and 10 x 3 minute subs. Camera is a QHY8. Mount is a Titan.
I can't decide which I prefer.

That must be very exciting for you. I like the image scale you've got going there it is similar to my CDK17.

Nice and sharp, lots of detail. Stars need some colour though. See if you can select out the stars; colour range tool/highlights works often or colour range tool/sample some stars and adjust the fuzziness to select.
Once selected use select/modify/expand and enlarge enough to be just outside the edge of the star and then feather 2 pixels. Now use saturation/curves/colour balance tool to up the colour.

At my beginners level I would be overjoyed with either image.

Well done Peter as it's a long road you have gone down to get the optics just right for the edge scope. Great photo with a wealth of detail.

Thats a promising start there Peter, but with that class of non-WW rig, you now need to get just as serious with PS processing. Colour and the dark rings around the stars need attention.

I dont want to get too critical, but given the money and effort youve spent already, you should be thinking of a quality mono CCD fairly shortly IMO, to get full value from your pretty heavy duty long FL rig. Id be looking at low-medium MP hi-QE large pixel cams.
