Has anyone checked out Saturn as it slides by M44 (Beehive) cluster?
What a pretty site, a photo will turn up in AST next month I am sure.
It's hard to tell the moons from the background stars at them moment.

I've had some nice viewing of Saturn. First time I've seen it with a decent scope, and it sure has the Wow factor for those not into Astronomy. I got my wife to have a look, and it's the first time she's really been amazed at what she's seen.
I just wish it was a little higher in the sky before my kids go to bed, as they haven't had a decent look yet. My wife actually dragged out son out of bed to look the first time, and he was falling asleep at the scope :)
Can't wait till we have visitors over that I can show - apart from the darn mosquito's that is...

Yeah I love it when planets pass thru deep sky objects. I remember Saturn transiting M1 a couple of years ago, Awsome

Yes I caught Saturn in M44 by accident. Fantastic ! Just a quick look through a 60mm before clouds covered everything again.
(No-one's come across a Cloud Pollution Filter have they?)

I don't really reckon astronomy would be so expensive if we didn't have to keep the Aeorguard company in maximum profits. Should buy shares to get some of my money back :)
saw it breifly in really bad seeing last night :)
sure was purdy

The other night I was watching Saturn nestled right next the beehive which was cool enough - and then a long meteor then went right between them! Left a nice trail for a few seconds.
