With recent clear nights I did these
Eta carina Neb, 2 x 10 mins ISO 1600
Horsehead nebula, same
Both with 10 inch F5.6 off axis guided, Coma Corrector and UHCS filter Eos 300d Unmod. I manually subtracted darks with Photoshop CS by adjusting the levels of the 3 colours of the Dark to avoid coloured spots on nebula. This seems to give best results.
Weather around 20 degrees.

Nice work Scott... You don't need a modified 300D, your doing just fine as it is!...

Awesome photo of Carina. Photos like this result in hours for research into the background/history of what happened in the image. Maybe the remains of an ancient star or the beginning of new stars?

Thanks all.
Yes I cant wait for the modded camera. Im also interested to see how well the in-camera noise reduction works. If it does, then I will wear the extra time taken.

Nice Work Scott

Your Eta Carina is special. Well done. And your Horse Head shows just how dim and elusive that object is.

Cheers

Well done Scott.

That ETA Carina shot will have to be put in your top quality folder to keep.

Thanks :)
The UHCS filter really seems to bring it out of the background. The original raws show a blue sky background with pink nebulosity, when I use Curves in photoshop to neutralise the sky background it intensifies and reddens the nebulosity.

G'day Scott,

fantastic shots. I will do some investigating into the UHCS filter. :astron:
