Hello Can I use a HEQ5 Mount Just to Track and Manually Slew .Without going through The Goto Star Alingment set up.Say I just want to set it up in a Rush Rough Visual Alignment Poer it Up Put scope on and let it track -and just Do Manual Slewing to Correct Tracking erros. Tony

Well you could just press enter instead of centring the target stars I guess
Provided your south Polar alignment is close, I'm sure you'd be within coooeee-

Just skip the setup procedure at start up. Too easy.

As jjj says just skip the setup>alignment procedure, but go into your tracking settings and make sure its selected sidereal. Sometimes with some of the heq/eq mounts they will default to terrestrial if you bypass the alignment procedure.

LOL sometimes they default to terrestrial mode on their own, just to see if you're paying attention.

If you bypass the set up process you will need to go into settings/tracking/sidereal and hit enter to engage the tracking motors.
