The 2 day old Moon tonight will be within about 2.5 degrees of Uranus, which will be about halfway between the mag 3.7 star lambda Aquarii and the Moon.

I don't know if it is worth a look so soon after sunset and so low in the Western sky (Uranus is a mag 6 object), but I will give it a go tonight if the clouds stay away. I've never seen Uranus through my scope; only through a Goto SCT xstream John aimed at the planet at the SV camp last year.

It's been weeks since we had a decent night for viewing down here. Come on stoopid weather! It's summer! Get with the program!

Geez, this was a worthless exercise! Second night in a row! Almost perfectly clear afternoon. I drive out to the nearest park where I get a good view of the Western horizon, start setting up and as the Sun is setting the clouds start rolling in. By the time the Sun is down the clouds have invaded 80% of the sky. Pack up go home.

I was looking at the sky yesterday too (Tuesday) and it was all looking good. As the sun went down, the clouds came in. I don't bother at the moment even thinking about getting the scope out until the sun is about gone.

Maybe I will start doing my observing during the day? Anyone got any good "sky" filters? Something that will block all the blue light, and only let in the rest?:confuse3:

A couple of weeks ago I set up to take a shot of the moon around midday. By the time I got everything set up, the clouds had come from nowhere and blocked it all out....arghhh!
