Watching the tv news re the terrible earthquake in Japan, the presenter said that there would be unusually high tides owing to: 'The full moon'. Surely they should have clarified and stated that it is owing to the moon being at Apogee, and its closest appraoch to earth for some 18 years!

What worries me is the link the media are trying to form between these disasters and the Moon Apogee:screwy:

The moon is actually at Perigee, so that may make more of an impact :) Well so far not much has happened, not newsworthy anyway... Its raining here, so I may blame the moon for the higher levels of moisture.

What's more a worry is this 'Moon Man' in NZ who frightened people in Christchurch with another major quake that was due today (I've heard nothing?). He claims to have based his prediction not only on the position of the Moon but included the alignment of Saturn, Earth and Jupiter! This is down right criminal and even if there was some mysterious force from these distant worlds (for gravity won't do it) why have another go at poor NZ - why not anywhere else in the world!

Actually I'll make a prediction based on the pattern of the coffee grains I see in my cuppa I'm having - somewhere on the world a major (6+) quake will occur again in the next couple of days. Why? because it always does! Check out this site which shows quakes recorded in the last week across the globe.

It makes me glad we live on a nice old, stable continent!

10 News reporter mentioned that the moon was "much brighter and larger" than usual.

Gotta love the media
