Getting a ZS 80 II ED APO to focus

Hi All,

What I need to know is the distance required from out side face of 2" eyepiece holder to achieve focus, scope is a just acquired ZS80 II ED ARO, tried it last night with a Meade 2" diagonal in and can focus OK with eyepiece but not with SX
Lodestar or SX H9C which I will be using with it, do I need more distance or not.

Peter, does it have a visual back? Or sct thread. My 66 had a sct thread & if I remember needed a 35mm ext tube to reach focus

Yep, you need an ext tube:)

I take it by visual back you mean eyepiece holder, is what I have not a sct? thread, one day will get use to right terminology, so do I put an extra 35mm in to diagonal which will be an extra 95mm as diagonal is 60mm, just for interest this is setup so far minas diagonal, I want cameras street thru

Sorry peter I was talking straight thru, minus the diagonal..the diagonal might be moving you out too far, I never tried focusing with diagonal in place..only strait thru

David I had seen those do I just need one of them, both cameras can be T2 or slide in.

Daniel seems strange to me that cameras need to be nearer than eyepieces but will try it.

I managed to get it to focus it needed 95.5mm of spacers in to get focus in daylight at 300M is all I can do.

9cm seems like a long way, far out out do the ep's focus

Hi Daniel,

I can focus eyepieces but have to use a meade 2" diagonal in which is 111mm, canot get focus with out, it seemes a long way to me.
