My Ovision worm for G11 has arrived and I will be attempting to put it in on the mount tomorrow.

I am very nervous about this as I am not very mechanically minded.

Have read the instructions 4 times but still very nervous. Says I need to have a scope on the mount while I do it. This is very scary.

Are there any tips from people who have done this mod. Are there any special tools that I need to get it right?

Thanks

Frank

There's nothing to it. Just make sure you tighten up the RA clutch or your scope will swing when you remove the RA block. Remove the cover, then untighten the two hex screw, decouple the plastic bush in the olham coupling and place your new worm in there. Easy peasy.

Frank, don't be too worried about it. You don't need to have a scope on the mount while you install the worm only while you make your final adjustments. If you choose to have a scope on the mount just make sure you have the clutch knobs tightened up quite tight while you have the old worm off.
It's quite simple, work through the instructions and get the adjustment correct and you will not look back.

Good luck.

Just remember Frank, if you get it wrong, you can always dress the G11 up with Christmas lights in your front yard and call it art.:P

Bring it to Melb, and I will give you a hand. I have a nice workshop full of tools etc.

Good luck Frank - I'm sure all will be well.
And, remember you've got this great IIS resource just a few clicks away.

ps...I'm out of the GM8 or G11 market right now, but I always thought that the Ovision mod looked a great idea!

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone. I have a pair of dark glasses and a friend with an oxy acetelene torch on stand by. I will take photos (of the G11).

Frank, I replaced mine 3 weeks ago, it is a doddle. A set of feeler gauges is a good idea though.

Are they Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses? You know, the ones that at the first hint of trouble they turn totally black and thus prevent you from seeing anything that might alarm you.:rofl:

Trevor,

I had to go up the coast on the weekend so chickened out on the swap over. The glasses are x-ray specs that I bought from a Marvel comic (does any one remember them?) many years ago for when I trip over and break something.

At the moment, it looks like I may not get a chance for the swap until SPSP.

Will be a good daytime activity for the SP. At least you will have dozens of peoples opinions on how it should go together.
