Hello all,
The skies were not friendly this afternoon - well the clouds anyway.
There has been so much going on with the Sun lately I did not want to miss out - glad I set up but 6 minutes of AVI's during an afternoon session is a little light on.
Image 1 - AR 1171 and Filaments
image 2 - AR 1166 & 1169
Image 3 - this was an image through light clouds - got a bit of disc and prom in the one shot.
All with Lunt60/Ha, 2.5 Powermate, DMK31 and stacked and processed in Registax5 - no idea of the imaging settings as I had to tweak often!

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for posting Matt. Cloudy here so I've spent the day modifying and mounting my spectroscope.

Nice work as usual Matt, very detailed structure in the active regions and like the prom. Have never really got into Solar imaging Matt but I wondered , if you got a good cloud free day, would it be possible to take a series of the active regions to construct an animation.

Thanks guys,
Absolutely Trevor - there are some great imagers out there who do images to animations.
Michael Buxton is one (these may be a big files?)

Thomas Ashcraft is another

I tend to be a shoot and quickly process guy!

Nice pics Matt I could see those Filaments in the first shot this arvo between the clouds.Just wondering is your scope double stacked?

Thanks Derek - I image with the standard scope (no double stacking). I do have the second filter but need a long session to muck around with it!
Nice detail and very smooth processing Matt :)

Hi again,
I got some more Sun in today , Sunday 13 March - conditions were not much better than yesterday but there were longer periods of cloudless skies!
AR 1166 / 1169 and AR 1171 again plus comparison images over the two days.
Thanks for looking

Hi Matt, I have a friend in the UK, Dave Tyler, who is a very good planetary imager and does really nice Solar work as well. He sent me an absolute stunner of an animation of a prom this morning. I told him about your work and he has given me permission to post this animation for you.

Hi Matt,
Dave does have a website but it doesn't seem to be very up to date.

Next time I am talking to him I will ask him to add you to the list that he sends his images to.

Hi again Matt, silly me, I don't have your email address to give to Dave. If you go to his website you will see a contact address for Dave. I have already told him about your work so if you are interested and contact him, I am sure he would add you to his list.
Cheers
