Hydra Galaxy cluster

Hi all,
just did this in the last few days.
While not overly happy with my flats, due to I think an un-evenness with my light box' illumination, this caused the bottom of the image to be a bit crunchy.
I will rotate the box and do some more to combine with my existing flats.
See if this sorts out this little issue.
While the conditions haven't been idea, last night when adding more lum was quite good. Pitty I had to work, would have been a good all night sort of night.

Since taking this area with my old HX916 last year, I vowed to image it again with the new gear this year.

Interesting to note is a small circular area of emission to the bottom R/H corner. This was in my uncalibrated composite I did before taking flats... still in this calibrated version... wonder if it is a known faint object?

Superb image, Rich!

A very, very impressive field.

I can see the circle that you speak of. To me it looks like there's a hollow section in the middle. I wonder if it's some kind of reflection of a bright star with the shadow of the secondary. If you have picked something up there, that's just nuts!

A top shot of one of the finest galaxy clusters, just superb! Very impressive deep field and such smooth processing.
And the classic overlapping galaxies look amazing, one can even see the spiral sihouette overlapping the other one. A piece of art.

Yep a great shot Richard, lovely processing and excellent resolution!

There are many other galaxies that are part of this cluster that fall outside this frame but this is a nice size FOV to appreciate the hub of the activity and there are a lot of galaxies just in this area :thumbsup:

Excellent result mate and it makes me hope and pray the newly arrived Orion AG12 performs to spec :)!

there were a few dust motes noticeable when I initially put this image together and I saw this little sucker, that made me do some flats.... but this thing was still there after the flats were applied. Internet search has yielded nothing, very limited info on this area. Might even send it off to the big chaps and see if they have any thing on it.

Hey, don't forget to be saving a few coins for AAIC in July, we (well I do) really want you there :thumbsup:

You only need a cheap Virgin (?) return air fair + a scanky caravan park for three nights and dinner each day (MacDonalds?) remember food is supplied as pasrt of the conference during the day...oh plus a few $'s for a few beers with me :D

With the confernece fees it shouldn't cost you more than a few hunggie :shrug: :poke::prey:
