Obviously I'm not a moderator Leon but here's my 2 cents worth...
Read the PM (can't do any harm) - respond to or ignore it as necessary, but all 'on forum' ie PMs only - no need to give out your email address.
All the best

Could be a variation on one of the Nigerian 419 scams. They send these out via emails; I get them quite often. They get in contact with you saying that they want to buy stuff from your web site. Then, they ask you for an item and price list as well as your web site URL! Does not compute! They email you wanting to buy stuff from your site and then ask you what your site is!
The people who get suckered into this end up getting involved in a sophisticated dodgy cheque scam.
Once all the nonsense in-between is sorted out and the dollar signs start appearing: the scammer will offer to send more money (in the form of a cheque) than what your items are worth, by a considerable amount.
Example: you're selling stuff for $100, they'll send you a cheque for $10,000, ask you to keep $2,500 (for your trouble), and send the other $7,400 back to him.
Once you've done that, and the cheque shows up as a dodgy, you, as the depositer are liable for a criminal offense, while the scammer gets away.

I'd have a look at it, then report it.
There's lots of places over WA with "up" at the end of their names. Seems everything in WA is "up":):P
Still amazes me that people get fooled by these.. It just seems so obvious
Nice part of the world tho a bit dry this time of the year. In the wetter months it is great.
I'm there once or twice a year due to ARC and state rallies.
A lot of the naming around the South West comes from the 'Noongar' language.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noongar
"Visitors to Western Australia invariably notice the many placenames ending in -up (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/-up), such as Joondalup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joondalup,_Western_Australia), Nannup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nannup,_Western_Australia) and Manjimup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manjimup,_Western_Australia). This is because in the Noongar language, -up means "place of". For example the name Ongerup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ongerup,_Western_Australia) means "place of the male kangaroo"
Leon..
Has anyone told you about the "Astrofest" event?
March 12th at Curtin University
http://www.astronomywa.net.au/whats-happening/astrofest
Seems to be directed more toward the general public than us astro tragics.
Might be a tad out-of-the-way too if you're down Balingup way! :D
From what the locals tell me the UP bit stands for water.
Thanks Simon i will look into that, there is no such thing as "out of the way" for us, we go where we want to, or the wind blows.;)
Leon
