Hi All,
Imaged Saturn this morning in pretty ordinary seeing, however I was able to image the dark spot in the tail that I have been tracking over the last few weeks. Have attached only 1 RGB and 1 807nm IR image, have also attached animations of the 3 data sets from the session in both RGB & 807nm IR. The animations show up this most interesting dark spot quite well.
Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

Trevor is that dark spot a storm or internal activity or is it due to an impact?Like the animations.

Seeing does not look too bad, great you got a night out - I've been stuck in for 2 weeks now and still very windy in Bris. Animations always lift the detail a bit even in avg seeing it seems but the 200Kb limit is a pain.
Just downloaded FireCapture 1.2 and seems to have nice reticle for Collimation aid as I am obessesed with the big C.
Regards, John.

Thanks Matt, the spot came up ok so I suppose this underlines the point that data of scientific value can still be eeked out in less than favorable conditions.
Thanks Derek, this dark spot is most certainly associated with the storm, it first formed over a very active section of the storm and may well be associated with the lightning from that active region.
Hope your weather clears up John, always look forward to seeing your work. A gauge of the seeing for this session was that I only stacked 30% of my data, threw the rest away. I have been running FireCapture 1.2 for a few weeks now and like the added features. Yes, collimation is certainly a critical component for successful planetary imaging.

Thanks for the views Trevor. Not just the storm, also I am amazed by the intricate shadings within the rings. Wonderful.
