Not a cloud in the sky, and the scope is already setup. Guess there is still time for a cloud bank to move in ;)

UNbelievable yes. Even more unbelievable is tonight is one of the only Sat nights in my life when I have an early start the next day so no observing. Stars are twinkling like crazy, seeing might be shonky anyway.

Seeing was pretty bad - at least from my understanding of it. Didnt stop me from having some fun though :)

Great night - outside with clear skies and Collingwood on the laptop radio. Seeing was about 6-7/10, but with no moon the milky way really stood out even in suburbia.
Started with M77, then M79, followed by NGC 1261, 1291, 1316, 1851. All very small and challenging in the metro area. Finished with NGC 2070, Omega Cent and Eta Carina, followed by a very clear and sharp Saturn.
All in all a very pleasing night. Looks like it will be clear tonight as well, so will probably be back out again.

The last few days have been fantastic for seeing..... in the daytime that is..lol
Just when you think it's safe to put the scope out, stupid burnoff smoke again ruins any chance. It stayed away all day, then at dusk the wind changed and blew it all over me :/
Ahh the humanity.

I know it's a low chance, if it all any chance but worth a shot, I'll try and pop out to see if the Shuttle landing orbit can be picked up. I estimate to be shy by about 40 minutes on a sunlight reflection. But sometimes the "heavens above" site can be wrong on a sighting.
Everytime a landing happens, it clouds over my house within minutes of a sighting...Boo....
Very frustrating the last 6-8 months.

Back to the good old days when the autumn clear nights start creeping in, so does the Defartment of Suckstainability and Embers with their little gas cans. Lucky it was a Sunday night.... real lucky

Totally agree with you on these recent months, I've busted too many nerves to really get P'Od anymore. Only thing left to hope for is a swift death to LA NINA
