Just think then they have to collimate the the Hale Telescope :scared2::eek:. We think we have trouble getting it right imagine trying to do that one:screwy:

i've been using the method similar to the one in the second video clean my 8" primary, but i've only used demineralized water and not tap water as shown. i've had no issues and would recommend not using tap water.
quite easy once you get over the "anxiety" over cleaning the mirror and causing scratches. obviously common sense prevails.

i wonder what the "rock" like structures were in the hale mirror once the aluminized surface was removed. looked embedded in the glass.

I have enough trouble with 5 inches.

Thanks for the tip on mirror washing Alistair.
The "rock like structure" is actually the glass, they had to put a ribbed pattern in the back of the mirror to make it lighter.
Here is some info from an old book I've had since I was a kid. (A long time ago:P).
