Seeing Mike's interesting negatives on Galaxies and how they reveal faint
tidal streams I thought I'd do the same.

Here is a gallery of several of my recent galaxy images in negative.

A few of them show extra tidal streams not easily seen in the colour image.

Gee, don't they look Hale'esque :eyepop:love the powerful image scale look. I try to kid myself that a 1300mmFL 6" is all that's really needed and push it to the limits to prove it  buuuut..?..bollocks ;) I, like anyone else, would give my left..?..ear?...to have your scope Greg.

There is so much more to see than a single perfect saturated pretty picture

I would have desaturated these first and then made them negative and pushed'em, but that's just me.

They are reminiscent of older style astro photos. And they do pick up the tidal streams a lot better than colour does. Galaxies are way larger than our images depict but I suppose those outer fringes are too dull to register easily.

Good tip. I didn't notice they had some colour left as they looked black and white in PS. These are pushed using levels. Curves works a bit in reverse in small amounts but levels seems to be the tool to bring them up.
