hi all, first jupiter for the season attached... well I'm only posting it because it is my first for the season as it's a long way from last years best, taken under appalling conditions of cloud and poor seeing. Only managed to get 300 odd frames in a "thinner" bit of cloud and stacked up 219 best frames. You can see the GRS and some banding detail, but otherwise soft due to the smearing effect of cloud and grainy from lack of frames.
Anyway here tis.
when you say "bad" you mean good dont you robert?
nice start :)
we'll see more i hope :)

yes, fine fellow astronomer, the circumference of this fine example of a planet is exceedingly large on the computer screen eh wot??
this planet seems to be very temperamental to seeing due to surface detail being so fine.
Great opener!
Are you having a go at saturn tomorrow night at opposition?
That's not bad Rob, all things considered.
Any other capture details ie gamma, gain, brightness etc etc?
I guess they're not really relevant given you had to adjust for the cloud etc
I'm hoping to get my first Jupiter of the season tonight if the clouds co-operate.

i had the gain at 100% the other night due to mist, registax had a coronarry trying to cope stacking varying brightness!!

DP ... registax seems to suffer a fair bit from a lack of ticka, on occasions

Thanks Guys,
yeh DP if the skies permit I'll definitely have a crack at Saturn with the C9.25 for opposition.
Matt, it was such a frantic rush to get any avi at all I didn't take note of the settings apart from what's note on the image (eg 1/20th sec exp at 10fps). I do remember having to push the gain up and brightness most of the way to the right. Saturation too was pushed up as I wasn't getting any colour, not sure if this was an effect of the thin cloud.
Anyway, hope I get the chance soon to improve on this - there be lot's to see on the "big one":)
cheers,
