Hi all,

It seems like ages since I did anything astronomical (or posted anything here), so I got up early to catch the conjunction of the Moon and Venus this morning. Here are a couple of images (first taken with the 15-85 lens, and second with the 70-200). It was nice to be out for an early morning photo session again! Did anyone else catch it?

Cheers,
Stephen

I was up early this morning to grab some Saturn, then waited until the sun came up to grab some Sol. I watched the Moon rise and then Venus shortly after. Looked very nice, but I wasn't set up to capture wide field without unbalancing everything. Thought of you and expected one of you shots. Glad to have some clear weather for a change.

Cheers

Nice dawn pics Stephen. I had a look this morning here through some high clouds what a lovely scene. Apparently you can spot Venus during broad daylight by using the moon as landmark but its all clouded here:mad2:

Nicely framed by the trees. I had a look about 9:30 this morning. Easy enough to find but looks better with something other that just blue sky for background.

Thanks for the comments Tony, Vincent and Michael.

Yes Vincent, I was just outside, and it was very easy to find at midday here in Brisbane!

Cheers,
Stephen

Very nice images Stephen, I wondered where you had been, particularly like the framing of the tree in the foreground.

Thanks Trevor, Bart, Chris, Derek and Matt!

Did you get a look this morning Chris? They would not have been as close as yesterday, but would still have looked good! We had a storm come through at 3am (with 24mm rain), so didn't get a view today.

Cheers,
Stephen

Yes,Stephen-I got up and had a look, looked ok-I was thinking of getting gear out-but clouds from your storm came up.I also was rather tied up till 11 am doing some basic imaging and balancing/testing new gear in observatory.

I see 7th March looks good for thin moon and Jupiter-there is a very flat Horizon to the west near here-so I am planning a mission to that spot to see if I can get a good image with the 10-22 mm lens,I will take the other camera not sure what lens to try on it.
