Cool stuff!
Kinda eerie too when such bright ones appear. The first fireball I saw also left a glowing trail that lasted a minute or two. Even though I knew what it was, it kinda un-nerved me too!
I watched a documentary recently, and the man said if you put a bucket with a magnetic sat in it, under the downpipe from the roof, it will catch the rainwater, sweeping along with it bits of meteors that have landed on the roof. Seems the stuff that sticks to magnets is the meteor stuff.
I want to give this a try, :D I wonder how acurate this is.

Its more likely to detect the iron in atmospheric dust … and particles coming from guttering, roof sheeting, TV antennas, mounts, chimney supports, 'stink' pipes, ventilation hardware, roof-screws and nails, etc, etc ... than meteors.
Better check for galvanised steel bits and pieces mounted on rooftops first.
(My 2 cents worth anyway).

I usually have a lot of trouble shooting stars....I find the bullets don't quite have enough range:):P:P
