Just before the latest deluge I managed to get 7x10 minutes of Ha on Eta Carina. It will need more data for sure as well as colour but I was amazed at how much detail was in the frame. It's spoilt a bit by compression etc and I know its an easy target but I wanted to fiddle with the reducer spacing as well as set up with the DSI guiding through the QSI-wsg for the first time. I was having problems with differential flexture (I think with mirror flop) but internal guiding sorted it out for the 10min subs. No flats, darks or bias frames -didn't have the time. There is still eggy stars in the corners but not as bad as it has been.

Fantastic guiding and resolution - wonderful amount of detail coming through. I know contrast in Ha images is tough and a bit personal, but I wonder if the brighter areas are just a little lacking (in contrast)?

Thanks Marc - really appreciated

Thanks Peter - the original is 6662 x 5016 pixels and the detail is extraordinary in it ( see attached image)

Thanks JJJ

Chris, the comment is appreciated

Rob the contrast is lacking as Ive reprocessed it and bumped up the contrast to make it "snappier" but Ill keep that for a narrow band image that I now want to do. There is soo much detail to see that Ive included a blow up of the Flying Fickle Finger area and you can see small stars right to the limit. I'm chuffed.

Thanks Paul, I had a go to see what were the faintest stars I could just resolve and I attach a Hubble, Michael Sidonio's shot and mine. Just managed to get 3 faint ones which I have no ideas of their magnitudes.

Will carry one with a narrow band image when the latest deluge of Brisbane passes. It was taken with a 10" Meade SCT with f6.3 focal reducer.
