Does it apply to modifications as well ?

I decided I wanted to mod the dob to carry my DSLR. So made up a T-Ring, modified the strut mount tubes so I could drop the UTA 35mm and modified the focusser mount to gain another 10mm of infocus. About 3 hours of workshop time.

Anticipated a clearish evening after a beautiful day and got ...clouds. Lots of them, everywhere.

So apparently you don't even have to spend money to get clouds.

Mod looks good though. I can just slide the UTA up again to regain my EP focussing range. 4 Pins to pull out to drop it down and it maintains alignment. And removed some weight as well.

Interesting Brent .... hadnt thought it applied to mods for a DSLR. Ah, but, it probably wasnt actually you, but your neighbour 4 houses down, who has just bought a 12" Dobsonian. Not too much you can do about that. Good luck with the mods, when skies clear!!

12 " !! Geez, where is he ? I'll kill him !! :mad2: ;)

Hi Liz, Nah, the mods were to the Dob's UTA to gain some infocus for the DSLR focal plane. The DSLR just gets a T-Ring adapter, plugs into the 2' Crayford.

Seems no matter what you do astronomy wise the clouds stuff it up for you. I am out here at Charleville (working... did I hear someone laugh?) hoping to go to the Cosmos Centre tonight. And guess what clouds and a severe weather warning in place for Charleville. Very hot and humid.
