Hey everyone i did my first photos last night and they were of the moon. Unfortunately most of the photos are too big size wise to upload so i have uploaded the smaller ones. They arent that good as i am only starting off, but i still like them!

Carls :)

Hi Carls
Welcome to imaging! You should like them!
What equipment did you use to capture these?

I did nothing fancy i just put my camera up to the eyepiece and took some shots to practice and i really liked the way they turned out!! I have an 8" Dobsonian, and used my Pentax DSLR, and i put a variety of eyepieces in... I think i used 40mm, 15mm wide view and 11 nagler

Carly, if you go here... Bintel (https://www.bintelshop.com.au/welcome.htm) ... then goto imaging and accessories (page 5), you can buy yourself a "second hand" (Orion Steady-Pix Deluxe) for taking piccies through your scope. What they allow you to do is connect your camera to the scope so it's in close contact with your eyepiece. It'll allow you to steady your camera, get much better focus and take good piccies:):)

Ah ok thanks heaps for the tip!! i will definitely look into it!! Its hard to get really good quality pics with a dob, but im very happy with the ones im getting at the moment!! I might even buy a remote so i dont have to press the camera button. Thanks so much for that :)

You may also like to try a modded webcam to take piccies at some stage.

For Lunar and Planetary the webcam doesn't need to be modified.
Only for Deep Space.
Unless you mean remove the lens and add a nosepeice.

True and yes, remove the lens and stick in a nosepiece. However, DSO shots will likely be on the menu after a few good "local" shots, I imagine:):)
