Hi all,

The Sun has been very active lately with AR 1158 spewing forth an X Flare several days ago.
I imaged it this afternoon (no real activity - image 1) as it is heading around the limb. It does not look as impressive as it has in the recent past.

The other area that was great to see was the area containing three active regions - AR 1160, 1161 and 1162 - AR 1161 is the largest dark spot on image 2.

Lunt 60 / Ha, 2.5 Powermate, DMK31 and processed in Registax5.

Thanks for looking!

Very impressive region there Matt, certainly looks like old Sol awakening and getting ready for a new Solar cycle as predicted for 2012.

Nice work Matt – I see you dodged the clouds this morning and managed to find the clearer spells in the afternoon.

Cheers

That second set is just amazingly detailed, don't think I have seen a solar image so detailed before. Don't usually look at the solar images and it looks like I am missing a great deal, superb Matt.
