Hello All

I am wondering if anyone has a top quality 4' refractor they might consider selling.

I am primarily after a very good refractor for visual astronomy so any doublets (long or short focal length) are fine (i.e. I am not specifically after a triplet). I am not concerned about the age or brand of the scope either only that it is optically in excellent condition.

Ideally, I am after a Televue or Takahashi but I know many other excellent OTA's have been made over the years so if you have anything you might consider selling please send me PM and let me know what you have and how much you might like for it.

As I mentioned before I am happy to consider anything my main criteria is simply for it to be an optically good quality 4" refractor.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my advertisement

there is a very nice 120mm Saxon refractor for sale in the trade section here.
These are a Synta/Skywatcher APO "BUT" have a look at a real optical test of these things. They can be very very good indeed for the money.

Hello David,

I appreciate the suggestion but for a variety of reasons I am really after a 4' (100mm) refractor OTA. Consequently, while I am after a smaller aperture I am hoping I will compensate with very good optics found in something like a Tak, Televue, Vixen etc.

Thanks

Just to clarify a point from an inquiry - of course I consider Vixen to have made great refractors and would certainly be interested in one.

I am simply looking into getting ANY type of very good optically 4' (100mm) refractor for some visual astronomy.

I am not too fussed on age or brand. I only previously mentioned TV and Tak as I am quite familiar with both of these brands.

A very nice TeleVue and a Takahashi are for sale here in the last few days.
Both sensational performers.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the advice but I saw the ad for the TV 102 myself and immediately sent a PM but apparently it already has a sale pending.

I am after any good quality 100mm refractor - please send me PM if you have something you might consider selling

Just to clarify again I am simply after a good quality 100mm (4') refractor for visual use so I am not concerned as to whether it is a doublet or triplet.:thanx:

Just to respond to a PM - Yes - any good quality 100mm refractor - I am not specific towards any particular brand - I only mentioned TV and Tak simply because they are well known

Yes - in response to an inquire of course WO OTA's are good and I would certainly be interested to hear from anyone who might have one. I am simply after any good quality 100mm (or thereabouts) refractor for some visual astronomy

I am sure I mentioned this previously but I am simply after a good quality 100mm (ish) refractor for visual astronomy - the actual age/vintage of the OTA isn't too much of an issue so an old TV or Tak (for example) irrespective of whether it is a doublet or triplet would be fine.
