I got home from night shift this morning and was able to find Saturn as the Sun came up. The storm is visible even in (just) daylight. AndI can't forget Venus (both images at same scale). I've left the processing/sharpening artefacts in the Saturn image as I think it looks nice :),

Also, the Moon from last night.

Nice going Tom, man you sure are dedicated to do this stuff directly after work, well done indeed, even though I'm not much of a Planet person so to speak.

Thanks guys.

Amber, it has been the images and posts on this board that have helped me realise that it is possible to do things with a telescope and/or camera that I had never thought possible. The images and advice by everyone here is great!

Leon, I think what helps me (apart from loving the subject matter) is the fact that the Dobsonian/DSLR combination is very quick to set up, use, and put away. I can do this without (too much!) affecting the everyday routine (two little kids etc!). Doing shiftwork also gets me up early or keeps me up late which gives me the opportunity to go observing at odd hours as part of my daily life. That said, I am really into getting as much out of the equipment I have with the time available (or allowed!), whilst not feeling like I am rushing it.

Cheers,

Tom
