I'm looking to downsize to an EQ5 pro, since I'm only going to be mounting the ED80 on it, and I'd like some goto and autoguiding capability. The HEQ5 is in good condition, with 12V power supply, 1x counterweight, tripod and handcontrol. I'll chuck in a ST4 port mod so you can autoguide if your handy with a soldering gun :) hopefully pickup or arranged meeting halfway.

cheers

are you really sure you want to do that Tony?? The HEQ5 is a significant step up from an EQ5. I know - I used to own one, and it was the bane of my life trying to guide with it. Even with an ED80.

I know that GOTO is a big drawcard, but its not much use to be able to dial up an object if you can't image it successfully....unless you are only doing visual, even then I would think twice.

Cheers,
Adam

hmm... so an ed80 is too much for an EQ5?

ill be using a finder guider so that should keep the weight down by heaps

not so much the weight - more just trying to get the EQ5 to do anything repeatable when trying to guide.

You've got a mount that you can work with in the HEQ5, I'd live with it for a while and save your pennies to trade up rather than down.
