Skywatcher Spotting Scope 20X60, Spotter with table top tripod
These simple, practical spotting scopes house a fully coated optical system to ensure high image quality. The table-top tripods are light-weight yet sturdy. The mounting block on the bottom of the scope features 1/4"-20 threading for standard camera tripod attachment. The ST2060 comes standard with a camera adapter tube for direct attachment of SLR camera (with appropriate T-ring attached).

I’ve moved to a dual Takahashi combo to guide and image – bye bye Skywatcher!
I used this as a guide scope on both my 10” Skywatcher newt (to keep the weight down on the EQ6) and with my ED80 (sold some time ago). No issues. The helical focuser system does not slip (if anything it’s overly stiff – but it can be adjusted). The tripod is solid metal. It connects easily to an SLR and is great for time lapse!
For guiding:
The Orion Star Shot Auto Guider (OSSAG) screws directly to the rear of the scope / helical lens system. All you need is a T-ring for your SLR. There is some magnification involved when using the OSSAG on this scope (because of the zoom lens system at the rear), so don’t expect the widest fields of view. In saying that, I never had issues finding a suitable guide star.
I’m also including a very basic Meade plastic focuser in case you want to shorten / cut the tube and do away with the helical focuser / zoom lens system at the back. From memory – you would cut the main tube to around 15cm in length (I test fitted with a cardboard postal tube to see where the focus point was). This would make a really compact ‘shorty’ refractor. The Meade focuser is chipped in one place, but this does not affect the fit.
And I’ll throw in two mounting rings if case you want to use this as a guide scope.
Other uses:
Nice little first scope for a kid, or for bird watchers / nature study, or a great travel scope. Connects directly to an SLR with appropriate T-ring. Overall, nice crisp views for the price.
