Looks like Yasi wants a piece of Victoria before she totally fades away :mad2:
Wind is already picking up intensity here now.
Going to head to supermarket and stock up again.
Victorians, Beware out in the open.

Hi Ken and Leon,
We have not had any wind to speak of but there is about 50mm in the rain gauge that has fallen in an hour (in Maldon).
Stay Safe.

Just got back from the Supermarket near Leon's house (confused as to which house you live in now, coz your rig was in another house).
Sky to west and south is BLACK! As in night-time black :eyepop:
Radio said Mildura just got bombarded about 1 hour ago with Black sky then torrential rain and wind.
The sky here is getting so black it looks like the end of everything! Bizarre.

OMG I had a bolt of lightning come down so close that it sounded like an explosion. Literally an explosion. Loudest crack of thunder I've ever heard left me trmbling a bit for a while.
Lot of lightning here and heavy rain, glad I live on top of a hill on days like this :)
Mildura has had 111mm of rain so far, almost half their YEARLY average, Laverton had a 132km/h gust just now and there is still more to come!

We have had 2" and it is just getting heavier at the moment. The Radar looks like we are just getting into it now. Looks like the Kiewa River will be in full flood tomorrow again.
My wife and I went into Albury this afternoon and just a quick 5 minute storm filled all the regulating basins and drains to capacity. The rain in there hasn't stopped.
God help those along the Murray River. Looks like a big wet coming up.
Hope Jen is Ok. Although it will take a few days to get to her place.
Yep, we are getting a flogging as we speak, coming down in buckets but the wind has died, and there are only a few lightning strikes around.
Ken, mate we have the rig parked over the road, well actually that is where we camp so to speak when not on the road.
The young woman of the house is our very good friend, and she suggested we do this to save on caravan fees whilst not traveling.
It is a beaut spot all landscaped and nice driveway which i put in as a return for her generosity.
We move again on the 14th or 15th of this month, and spend 9 - 12 months exploring the West.
Leon:thumbsup:

We lost power just after 9pm.
Typing this on my HTC desire mobile phone
Leon, more lightning on the way. The west is alive with thunderstorms and they are coming this way again. It is bucketing down right now. Going back outside with my son to watch the show.
Hanging up now.

My wife and I drove into Laverton not too long after that 130kph wind gust and it showed.
We set off from home - all dry - but a huge thunderstorm to the south. We ran parallel to it until we had to turn towards Laverton/Altona Meadows. WHACK! The rain! No hail thank goodness, but we were down to very slow speed and the road was already starting to overflow. Drains running very full.
Then the rain eased off as we pulled into Laverton to find branches and trees down everywhere and lots of local flooding. It took us a further 30 min to find a way around, across the Freeway, and to the place we had to visit. Spent an evening under candlelight since power was out.
Had a slow drive back on the Freeways/Highway to home with occasional very heavy rain.
Forcast is for calm for some hours, then steady heavy rain much of Saturday. Rule of thumb seems to be - whatever you have received, add another 50mm tomorrow.
Some rainfall totals since late this afternoon:-
Mildura 113mm
Ballarat 51mm
Laverton 26mm to 7:48pm at which point the station lost power
Scoresby 60mm
Moorabbin Airport 104mm
Melbourne 45mm
Some of these are amazing falls. (I believe the Melbourne record is 130mm in 24 hr)
I fear that it's all started again. All the flooding from some weeks ago - it will all happen again and likely worse given the saturation of the whole west of the State.

Quick Desler - get it on realestatedotcom as "Absolute Waterfront Property"! :D
Our driveway is pretty much stuffed now so we have to drive through the paddock to get off the farm.

Power back on here now. No rain for a few hours hopefully.
But going to be worse tomorrow.
Halls Gap, Creswick, and Clunes have been evacuated.

Went chasing yesterday out to top of the range near Mt Pleasant. We saw the supercells forming. Even saw a few strikes but the stikes showing on Weather zone were non existent. I think most of those strikes are c-c and not ground strikes.
BTW this system was not spawned from ex-TC Yasi. This system has been building all week in far north of SA and it just got going yesterday. We will not see Yasi's influence until maybe tomorrow in SA and then later in the week for Vic.

Well it's still raining here this morning. 105mm overnight with at least another 50mm expected today. It's raining solidly and the radar doesn't look like it will stop any time soon.
We are high and dry where I live but further down the valley they will be in trouble again. The Kiewa River has been declared in flood again. 5 times since the 1st September which is very unusual.
God help those who live on the flood plains of many rivers.

Darren, I hope all is well and the water level goes down a bit. I had my car and Obs parked there a couple of weeks back. I would need water wings to get to it now.
At least you don't need to water your garden. Look on the bright side.
Thankyou very much for the heads up on the warning Ken.:thanx:
We brought a lot of stuff inside from our deck and saved it from a drenching.
We live on the side of a hill and our driveway turned into a raging waterfall. Half of the gravel road is now at the bottom of our block!:eyepop:
Hubby's outside now trying to fill in the trenches in the driveway so the postie doesn't break his neck on Monday.
:lol::lol::lol:
But I'd rather water my garden than move a small mountain of gravel!!!:P

House is all good, storm water drains just couldn't cope.
The drain under the pergola was like a little fountain, had the wife and kids out there sweeping the water away from the sliding door, Roof held up ok and no water damage inside.
Went for a drive around Laverton this morning, debris everywhere and lots of roofs tarped up. Looks like we were pretty lucky!
Good luck to all those who have suffered damage.

We had exactly the same here. Kinds'n all since 6.30am. Went down Bunnings to get a water squeegee and large head broom to sweep water to drains.
Boy are they selling fast!
Saw 3 car accidents and 5 car breakdowns in around 10 klms.
Ahhh life in the the Burbs:lol:

172mm in Mildura in the last 24 hours, another 100 and they'll get their annual average
Highest total in Melbourne since last night is 180mm at Lyndhurst, Here in Berwick we got 166mm. So glad I live on top of a hill.
HUGE event.

Blimey.
This is like an English summer.
We had 135mm overnite. We live on a hill so nothing's flooded - it's all been washed into the gullies and the driveway looks like one of those Bolivian mudslides.
We seemed to get off OK in the northern burbs of Melbourne (at least my part), but its the most rain Ive seen - I hope its gone now...
I suspect that I am the cause of it all - I got my new scope, and some TMB eyepieces...:eyepop:

Mildura streets were like raging rivers, 100 mm within 2 hours yesterday afternoon. FAther in law went to pick my son from childcare and both ended trapped in the water, got some frantic phone calls and had to go to the rescue in my 4x4. Lots of little cars stuck in the water.
My 4 year old saw the news of the flooding in Queensland and the cyclon and was very afraid of the water (he usually loves water), when we arrived home he asked me if the house will end up like the ones he saw in the news, it took a while to calm him down.
Today it rained all day, but more lightly, all the water from the streets is gone, but the Murray river is HUGE!

Looks like a follow up system is already on the cards next weekend as more tropical moisture comes our way and interacts with a trough and cold front.
:eyepop: oh man we lucky we missed the big storms but had steady rain here all day/night PHEW!
But does that mean all the rain you lot have had is heading back to us AGAIN :help: i dont think the river can handle much more right now :scared:
:eyepop: oh no Dave not the DOB :mad2:

Yeah, towns in all directions from here have it bad, but all we got was a terrific thunderstorms and a bit of rain on and off.
We have been lucky thanks Rob
