Hi all, just wondering if anyone's using a Nikon D40 with IRIS and if so which option they choose in the 'camera select' dialogue box? I've just started messing about with this amazing program but my image looks a bit yellow (even after using the black/white commands), should I just try each one and see?

I would suggest the D70. Even shooting with Canon gear, the colours came out a bit iffy. It's because nothing other than Canon's Digital Photo Professional is a true RAW converter for CR2 files. Everything else is a hack.

Just get the colours as close as you can and salt-and-pepper to taste in post-processing. Think of IRIS purely as a pre-processing suite of tools.

And, you're right, IRIS is superb. Its stellar registration routines and sigma kappa combine are nothing short of the bees knees.

I used it for all my DSLR work.

I'm in the same boat with my D40. I was reading the IRIS instructional pages on the website just the other day looking for these details.

H, some months ago you mentioned a nice 'front end' program that makes IRIS easier to navigate. What was it called again?

Cheers,

Logan.

Logan,

My understanding is that DeepSkyStacker is a user-friendly IRIS.

Cheers.
