I normally don't like to rant in forums and this is pretty much non-astro related (except that my car takes my scope out into the field) but yesterday my poor i30 was hit by an out of control Peugeot and I'm a tad annoyed.

I was driving down the western on-ramp to get on the M2 motorway at West Pennant Hills, I'd just went through the tolls using the E-Tag when I heard a screech and crash and then on my left I saw the other car head towards me so I went hard on the brakes but he still connected with the front left of my car and pushed me into the concrete retaining wall on my right. I was able to move my car behind his (he ended up back on the left side of the road) off the on-ramp. I don't know my exact speed but there were cars on the motorway going past me as I was moving down the on-ramp getting up to motorway speed so it was easily less than the sign posted 100km/hr.

His car was a mess. Mine has damage to both left and right front panels and my 17" rims are looking not so hot. Thankfully everyone was fine.

The other guy was so apologetic. He said he had paid the toll with cash and he had opened the top of the convertible after coming out of the tollway and a $5 note flew up in his face and he couldn't see. He had hit the retaining barrier on the left side and lost control. I do believe him though I didn't see him hit the wall the first time before he hit me, he seemed to have a fair bit of speed as he was coming across to hit me.

This is crash number 2 in as many years where I have been minding my own business and someone has hit me and caused damage to the front panels of my i30... Someone must hate it! ;)

Sorry to hear about this Simon. It's really good news that everyone came out of it ok.
Hope the other fella was well insured.

Thanks Warren. I'm very glad no one was hurt. It's a credit to the safety features of the Peugeot (all the airbags had gone off and the driver/passenger capsule was in perfect condition).

Even a minor accident is very unsettling and ruins your day - hope your car is fixed soon so you can put it all behind you.

It must have been a bad day all round Simon.

My sister is visiting Sydney from Canberra. She and her husband were out doing a good deed for his sister. On the way back here their Jazz was run into from behind by a 4wd. You can see the bull bar posts imprinted in the rear hatch - which still opens and closes. The initial estimate is somewhere north of $4000.

Fortunate for all of you that no-one was injured.

Good to hear it was only car damage and no human damage Simon
I hope your car is back on the road soon:thumbsup:
Cheers

Colourful excuse wasn't it..... how long could a $5 note impede your vision for!

I'm sorry to hear about your car Simon- it must be so annoying and frustrating to go through all those insurance hassles and car being off the road yet again. But thank goodness you weren't hurt.
